The Government asked the Red Cross for help for the Argentines kidnapped in Gaza

After the war that began on October 7 and continues between Israel and Palestine, the Government requested the support of the International Red Cross with the aim of advancing in the release of the Argentines kidnapped in Gaza. The request was made by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero, who spoke by telephone with the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, in a talk in which she emphasized “the immediate and unconditional need for the release of the Argentine hostages in Gaza.” Although it is difficult to pinpoint an exact number, the government reported that there are 21 Argentines hostage held by Hamas, although there is no official list of them. Days after the attack, President Alberto Fernández established contact with relatives of the disappeared with Argentine nationality via Zoom and proposed maintaining communication. In addition, Cafiero confirmed that the shipment of humanitarian aid from our country will arrive in Egypt next Tuesday with different supplies provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministries of Health and Social Development of the Nation. A group of logistics specialists from the White Helmets Corps will also travel.
