Concern in Santa Fe: Nine prisoners broke a padlock and escaped from a substation

In the early hours of Saturday morning, nine detainees at a Santa Fe police station escaped by breaking a lock and jumping off rooftops. Hours later, a police officer was shot in a nearby neighborhood, allegedly by one of the fugitives. The escape occurred around 5:30 a.m. at the Sixth Police Station in the La Guardia neighborhood. The security personnel noticed that the padlock on the front door had been forced open and then, when they made the count, they discovered the absence of the prisoners. In this way, the prosecutor on duty, Milagros Parodi, and the prosecutor for Institutional Violence, Ezequiel Hernández, were notified. At the time of the escape, the unit housed 23 people, despite having a capacity for 12. Those who escaped are Enrique Fabián Quintana, Mauro Fabián Monzón, Joel Alejandro Altamirano, Juan Manuel Fernández, Hernán Ezequiel Molina, Henri Abel Molina, David Alcide De la Rosa, Emiliano Rubén Vega and Maximiliano Daniel Quiroz. minor injuries, threats, concealment, and resisting authority. As the search continues, prosecutors are investigating the circumstances of the escape and whether the fugitives received outside help with a padlock cutter. In addition, it is being investigated whether the attack on the policeman is related. The victim, a 29-year-old non-commissioned officer, was shot in Alto Verde, about ten kilometers from the police station. Fortunately, his bulletproof vest prevented serious injuries and after being treated at a health center and Cullen Hospital, he was discharged. It is worth noting that, this year, several similar incidents occurred in the province, such as the escape of 16 prisoners in Granadero Baigorria in September and, in mid-July, another six prisoners filed the bars of a bathroom and escaped through a hole in the branch located in the southwest area of Rosario.
