Morelia, Michoacán.- There are different ways of doing journalism, some are professional and others are unethical, according to journalist Carlos Márquez.
For Carlos Márquez, there are journalists who fall into “unethical” practices; For example, as a columnist you take advantage of having information about a public figure and “blackmail them, it’s almost like becoming a kind of mercenary of information”.
He adds that in his point of view some journalists “sometimes make things up,” so the issue today is to find out if it is true, or not.

He also thinks that when a journalist does not have the possibility of blackmailing with information, the device he uses “is the media slapstick,” but “it is part of the job,” of what public officials have to face.
Finally, when asked how he saw the media landscape in Michoacán, comparing it with cities of similar size, he said that journalists, especially digital journalists, “have the hard task of being faster in terms of marketing strategies, as well as informing to continue being an option for the public, because technology evolves very quickly.”
