The ministries of Energy and Mining will be under the supervision of Luis Caputo

Just a few hours before Javier Milei is sworn in as president, a new revelation is shaking the national political landscape. According to sources of La Libertad Avanza, at the beginning of the administration that begins this Sunday, the secretariats of Energy and Mining will depend on the Ministry of Economy under the direction of Luis “Toto” Caputo.Until this moment, both areas were confirmed within the organizational chart of the Ministry of Infrastructure, in charge of Guillermo Ferraro. However, according to the sources consulted, he will maintain control of the works associated with the energy sector, and it is proposed that these crucial sectors for the local economy could be transferred to his ministry once some time has elapsed in the government of La Libertad Avanza.La strategic importance of these areas is undeniable, especially with regard to Vaca Muerta. one of the largest shale gas deposits in the world and whose development is intrinsically linked to the policies and regulations established by the Energy area. “Decision-making on tariffs and subsidies requires this transitory movement. For this reason, both areas will be under the Ministry of Economy, while the Ministry of Infrastructure will decide on the works for these two neuralgic sectors,” the sources said. However, from other sectors of the Milei government it is argued that the planning of the works for these economic areas is already defined and that Caputo will not have interference in these decisions. “That is Ferraro’s sole responsibility,” they said. The agreement establishes that this change will be transitory, focused on directing the first decisions on subsidies and rates, although certain sectors question the temporality of this restructuring. “Toto seeks to control everything, that’s why he wanted someone close to him in the Central Bank,” said another member of La Libertad Avanza, sowing doubts about the transitory nature of the transfer of Energy and Mining to the Ministry of Economy.
