Santiago Bausili was officially appointed president of the Central Bank

The national government made official the appointment of Santiago Bausili as head of the Central Bank and other members of the board. Other key positions in the new administration were also ratified. The appointments were published today in the Official Gazette after President Javier Milei reduced the number of ministries from 18 to 9 on Monday and headed his first Cabinet meeting at Casa Rosada.Santiago Bausili, appointed head of the Central Bank: “It is not closed”With his collaborators already in office, it was still necessary to make official the heads of other key areas for the new government. Thus, this Tuesday, the appointments were communicated in different resolutions that bear the signatures of President Javier Milei and Minister of Economy Luis Caputo.In addition to Bausili, Vladimiro Werning was confirmed as vice president of the BCRA and Alejandro Lew, Marcelo Griffi, Agustín Pesce and Juan Curutchet as directors of the entity. All will remain in their positions until 2028.In another decree, the departures of the former head of the Central Bank Miguel Ángel Pesce and the former vice president Sergio Woyecheszen, and the former members of the board Claudio Golonbek, Zenón Biagosch, Lisandro Cleri, Jorge Carrera, Eduardo Hecker, Pablo Carreras Mayer and Juan D’Attellis Noguera were reported. Pablo Quirno Magrane, who will make the first economic announcements this afternoon, was also appointed as Secretary of Finance, and Javier Rodríguez Chirillo, as Secretary of Energy.
