The left rejected Bullrich’s announcements as they “threaten” the popular sectors

After the measures announced by the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, in relation to the “protocol for the maintenance of public order in the face of the blockade of traffic routes”, the leftist groups rejected her announcements and considered that “they violate the National Constitution” and are a “threat to the popular sector”In a press conference convened to respond to Bullrich’s proposals, the leaders of the Workers’ Party, Vanina Biasi and Gabriel Solano, and the leader of the Polo Obrero, Eduardo Belliboni, claimed the “right to protest” and pointed out that the Minister of Security “does not have the legal power” to prevent it. Bullrich did not pass through Congress and is therefore trampling on the current legislation. The minister placed herself in illegality, violating the national constitution,” said Buenos Aires legislator Gabriel Solano. Solano added that Economy Minister Luis “Toto” Caputo first announced “a plan of war against the people” last Tuesday that, he said, included “significant devaluation, an 80% increase in gasoline prices, layoffs of public employees and a new threat to take away retirement mobility.” And he considered Bullrich’s measures as a “complement” to Caputo’s announcements and a “threat” to the popular sectors. In line with this approach, Belliboni argued that Article 194 of the Penal Code, to which Bullrich referred during his press conference, “can only be applied by a judge.” This article states that “anyone who, without creating a situation of common danger, impedes, hinders or hinders the normal functioning of transport by land, water or air or public services of communication, water supply, electricity or energy substances, shall be punished with imprisonment from three months to two years”. The leaders reiterated that on December 20 there will be a demonstration to Plaza de Mayo with “more than 50 organizations summoned” and that the call will be finalized tomorrow at a meeting at the headquarters of the Teachers’ Union Association (AGD) of the UBA. Regarding this protest, Belliboni said that “there are probably 50,000 people in the street” and ironized about Bullrich’s proposals: “Can 50,000 people march on the sidewalk?”
