Mexico. – The Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) on gasoline, cigarettes and soft drinks will be updated throughout the country as of January 1, 2024, as every year.
The above was published by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), in the Agreement updating the quotas specified in terms of the special tax on production and services for 2024.
After the update, the rates set by the IEPS 2024 will increase by an average of 4.1%.
The above figures were obtained by comparing the forecasts announced in the IEPS 2023 Update Agreement with the 2024 forecasts.
This increase in the IEPS fee will be as follows:
Petrol
Magna – from 5.9195 to 6.1752 pesos per liter
Premium – from 4.9987 to 5.2146 pesos per liter
Diesel – from 6.5055 to 6.7865 pesos per liter
Cigars
It goes from 0.5911 to 0.6166 per piece.
For example, the IEPS for a box of 20 cigarettes will be 12,332 pesos.
Sugary drinks
It goes from 1.5086 to 1.5737 pesos per liter.
