“They are the good guys”: the government backed the security forces

Almost two weeks after the inauguration of Javier Milei, which brought with it a radical change regarding operations in demonstrations and the role of the police, the president’s office published a video on social networks supporting the security forces. Numerous mobilizations throughout the country took place during the last week, after the announcement of the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) that provoked pots and pans and a deep rejection from the opposition. Through social networks, the president’s office published a video in which Milei can be heard a speech in which he praises the role of the security forces and remarks that “they are the good guys.” In his words, the president argues that “our security forces have been humiliated for decades and abandoned by a political class that has turned its back on those who care for us.” Along these lines, Milei remarks that “he who does it, pays for it,” and closes the video with a strong message: “We support our security forces.” Likewise, the president’s office accompanied the images with a text that dictates that “it is President Javier Milei’s decision to restore dignity to the security forces.”
