Carrio said that the CC will not support the Omnibus Law “as a package”

The leader of the Civic Coalition, Elisa Carrió, reiterated that her party will not accompany “in a package” the omnibus law proposed by President Javier Milei. In fact, he considered that “society’s right to know is at stake.” According to NA, the former national deputy pointed out: “Everything is inside the Constitution, nothing is outside the Constitution. Society does not know, nor does it know, the content of an immense number of regulations that are included in the DNU and the Omnibus Law that can affect individual rights forever and it is necessary to inform them.” Under this framework, in your personal account of X He wrote: “Every society has the right to know what is being debated and legislated (Article 13 of the Pact of San José – American Convention on Human Rights, incorporated by Elisa Carrió herself in Article 75, paragraph 22 of the CN), it is a basic principle of the Republic.” At the same time, he added: “The legislative package sent by the Executive Branch has an endless number of diverse and complex issues that will have an enormous impact on the lives of Argentines who study, work, invest, generate and sustain employment and production in our country. In order to guarantee predictability, stability, legal certainty and individual rights, we must redirect the norms already issued and the legislative proposals of the Executive Branch, adapting them to the constitutional legal regime.” In this way, he continued: “We cannot validate in a package a decree of omnibus necessity and urgency because the National Constitution and the separation of powers are values that we uphold no matter who is the government or the opposition. We believe that it is necessary to preserve the positive aspects of the DNU. We are going to collaborate so that, through its opening and debate, the Congress of the Nation guarantees the forms that the CN establishes for the sanction of laws, respecting republican values.” In turn, Carrió explained: “The omnibus law establishes reforms in important aspects that deserve to be debated. But it also contains delegation of extraordinary powers to the President of the Nation that are inadmissible. Since the beginning of our party in 2001 we have refused to grant special powers in which the lives, honours or fortunes of Argentines are at the mercy of governments or any person.” Finally, he concluded: “This is not a capricious or circumstantial position, it is a position held over time by Elisa Carrio and the Civic Coalition since the Constitutional Convention of 1994, as well as in the ‘administrative and emergency reform’ of Carlos Menem’s second term, the full powers of Fernando De la Rua and Domingo Cavallo. and the proposed delegations with Eduardo Duhalde, Néstor Kirchner, Julio De Vido, Cristina Kirchner, Alberto Fernández and Sergio Massa”.
