“Secrets of a Scandal” with Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman: the Oscar nominee arrives in Argentine cinemas

Oscar winners Julianne Moore (“Still Alice”) and Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”) star in “May December,” the film that is also up for the Academy Award ahead of the 95th Academy Awards, which will be held next Sunday, March 10. The film arrives in Argentine cinemas on February 29, after garnering 30 awards and 159 nominations, including three for the Critics Choice Awards; one for the Palme d’Or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival; four to the Golden Globes; two to the Gotham Awards; along with a score on Rotten Tomatoes (the benchmark rating site) of 90%. The film is inspired by the real-life case of Mary Kay Letourneau, and is directed by Todd Haynes (“Carol”). In this way, it develops the encounter between two women. Gracie Atherton-Yoo (Moore) and famous actress Elizabeth Berry (Portman). The second is preparing to play Gracie in a film that tells her story, for which she receives her in her home. There, the artist begins to intrude on the hostess’s relationship with young Joe (Charles Melton). Looking ahead to the Oscars, “Secrets of a Scandal” will chase the statuette in the Best Original Screenplay shortlist, where it will battle with great candidates. On the one hand, the French “Anatomy of a Fall”, along with “Those Who Stay”, “Past Live” and “Maestro”.
