Daer, on a new strike: “The government is creating the conditions for a new measure”

In statements on Saturday, Héctor Daer – co-secretary general of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) – questioned the surplus for the month of January presented by the government and assured that there could be a new strike in the near future. Celebrating January’s fiscal surplus without having paid anything, without having diverted the funds that it has to co-participate, without having sent a peso to the canteens, which liquefied pensions, salaries… If this is the course, it will not improve anything, it will be an absolutely impoverished country,” said the leader in an interview with Radio Mitre.Almost a month after January 24, the day the CGT held its first strike against the government’s measures, Daer said that “the recession is going to have a blow that will generate a fall even in a lot of small and medium-sized business sectors.” In this sense, the leader pointed out that “a country has to do with the development of society, economic development, industrial development and it is built in a different way.” Regarding the possibility of a new strike, Daer said that “the government is creating all the conditions for a new measure,” and concluded by assuring that “the Wage Council, the adjustment that is on retirees and salaries will generate the conditions for union action, without a doubt.”
