Aerolíneas Argentinas will stop flying to New York

The company Aerolíneas Argentinas will stop flying between Buenos Aires and New York as of next August, sources linked to the company reported on Friday. The sources pointed out that “with the aim of increasing the productivity of its fleet in the most profitable destinations, Aerolíneas will suspend the EZE-JFK route as of August 10.” And they added that “this modification will increase the offer to Miami and Madrid to two daily flights, in addition to making resources available to increase frequencies to the Caribbean.” They explained that “the decision reflects the consolidation of a policy of permanent evaluation of the profitability of routes in the face of an aeronautical market of extreme volatility. The path chosen in this scenario was to reinforce and prioritize the operation to the destinations of greatest economic benefit for the company.” In addition, they detailed that “only during February and March of this year, the Ezeiza route and the John Fitzgerald Kennedy airport, yielded negative numbers of about 250 thousand dollars. For the year, a total loss of over $1 million was projected.” Finally, the sources indicated that “Airlines passengers will be able to continue flying to NYC through the codeshare flights offered with our partner Delta and those passengers who already have tickets will be relocated on direct flights of other airlines or, alternatively, on flights via Miami. This communication will be done directly with the passengers or with the ticketing agencies.”
