The National Weather Service issued severe storm warnings for the entire country

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued an orange alert for strong storms and hail for the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), Santa Fe and Entre Ríos. Heavy rain, hail and intense wind gusts are expected, reaching 60 km/h. The situation could lead to an accumulation of water in short periods of time and electrical activity. On the other hand, a special warning was issued for Buenos Aires localities such as Junín, 25 de Mayo, Chivilcoy, Lobos, Navarro, Roque Pérez, Suipacha, Arrecifes and Pergamino, along with areas in the north of the Conurbano, such as Tigre, San Isidro and Vicente López. Initially, both the City and the northwest of Buenos Aires were on yellow alert, but it was modified to orange alert. In the north of the country, provinces such as Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán and Catamarca are on alert for strong westerly winds, reaching up to 80 km/h and gusts of more than 100 km/h. In addition, there would be intense rains in La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro and San Luis.As for the mountain range, the towns of San Juan and La Rioja are under yellow alert for snowfall, with an accumulation of snow of up to 50 centimeters in some areas. In view of the orange alert, the population is recommended to stay in closed buildings, stay away from electrical appliances, avoid driving through flooded streets, cut off the electricity supply if there is a risk of water entering the home and, in case of emergency, contact local agencies. In addition, it is advisable to have an emergency backpack with basic items ready.
