Cristina Kirchner reappears with Malvinas ex-combatants and criticizes Milei’s DNU

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner returned to the scene in a video posted on her TikTok account, where she shared a meeting she had with former Falklands combatants at the Instituto Patria. During the meeting, she praised the work of the members of the Center for Former Combatants of the Malvinas Islands La Plata (CECIM) who filed an injunction against the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) of Javier Milei, which sought to repeal the Law of Tierras.Al beginning of the video, the former president pointed out that the ex-combatants “fought in Monte Longdon, in Malvinas, which was the biggest battle of the entire Falklands War.” He underlined his defense of the Falklands and his role in founding CECIM, an organization he considers essential to protecting the interests of veterans and the country. Cristina also praised the CECIM’s legal action against the DNU, stating that “these gentlemen, in addition to defending the Malvinas against the English enemy, also defend your land in the courts”. He mentioned that he achieved the suspension of Decree 70/2023 regarding the Land Law, which had been sanctioned during his term to prevent the foreignization of Argentine lands. In her message, the former president recalled her previous criticisms of Milei’s DNU, in particular for the increase in prepaid, school fees and high interest rates. During the visit of Senator Celeste Giménez Navarro (Unidad Ciudadana), Cristina Kirchner said: “This is one of the senators who voted for the repeal of the Decree. The one that increases prepaid, school fees and kills you in the bank with all the interest rates and penalties.” @cfkargentina On the other hand, the CECIM had requested the repeal of the DNU’s Land Law, alleging that it enabled “the foreignization of the same, with latifundist dynamics, which put in crisis the principles of territorial integrity and national sovereignty, conditioning not only the availability of Argentine soil, but also freshwater courses.” The initial injunction filed by CECIM was granted by Judge Ernesto Kreplak, who issued a precautionary measure to suspend the article of the DNU that repealed the Land Law. However, Judge Alberto Recondo later rejected the injunction, arguing that it did not have standing to file class action lawsuits. After the appeal of that ruling, Chamber III of the Federal Court of La Plata finally resolved the unconstitutionality of Article 154 of DNU 70/2023, which repealed the Land Law, and re-registered the case in the Registry of Collective Proceedings of the Supreme Court. In conclusion, Cristina Kirchner thanked the recognition of the ex-combatants and reaffirmed her commitment to the Malvinas cause and the defense of Argentine sovereignty, affirming: “I am very Malvinera, you know that better than I do”.
