Barrionuevo reappeared and criticized Milei: “We are at an impasse”

Despite the good relationship they maintained during the election campaign, Luis Barrionuevo, head of the Union of Tourism, Hotel and Gastronomic Workers (UTHGRA), harshly questioned the President of the Nation, Javier Milei. In dialogue with Radio Mitre, he said that “we are on a slide, consumption is running out. What I can talk about our guild that has to do with tourism, hotels and gastronomy, totally collapsed. We’ve been at an impasse since January.” There are already businesses that are closing because they can no longer bank. Five-star hotels are 30% less; four-star ones 60% less. Gastronomy in general, those who used to work double shifts, now do half shifts. All this leads to consumption and if there is no consumption, there is no country,” he added. In addition, he was disgusted by Milei’s way of governing: “Undoubtedly, he has no notion of what it is to govern for all Argentines. What is happening today with health, medicines, has no notion of the danger. I think that the policy that President Milei is carrying out with the incapable unknowns around him in the country is not going to work.” We are in trouble and I say this from experience, for years. These are things we have already experienced. These adjustments, these vicissitudes… Instead of consolidating parity by year, we are doing it by month… daily remarkings. We’ve been through all of this,” he said. And, finally, he assured that, based on the bad economic situation, there are “plenty of arguments” for workers to be on the street. “The government must govern for all Argentines, all classes. If he wants to put an end to gnocchi, let him do it, if he wants to end the trust fund, I think it’s barbaric. But not like this,” he concluded.
