Visit the Fábrica de San Pedro Cultural Center and the exhibition of three monumental sculptures by Javier Marín – MonitorExpresso.com

Uruapan, Michoacán – On June 24, the Fábrica de San Pedro Cultural Center received the three monumental sculptures Cabeza Vainilla, Cabeza Córdoba and Cabeza Chiapas by Michoacan artist Javier Marín. This was reported through a statement. Javier Marín has made these monumental works with the intention of establishing a dialogue between his work and the public space. Resembling pieces thrown at random, it proposes a dynamic to the viewer: to find these large pieces that invade and occupy everyday places such as squares, parks, sidewalks, and thus promote alternative readings of urban life and the physical and human context that surrounds them, while establishing dialogues between the work and passers-by. Javier Marín’s Heads, made of lost wax bronze, invite us to reflect on the cyclical and the
perishable of ideas, which nevertheless become what we rely on or even govern our existence. These pieces suggest the fall of great characters or ideologies, thus evidencing our own fragility. Cabeza Vainilla, Cabeza Córdoba and Cabeza Chiapas have previously been exhibited in various cities in Mexico, Canada, Belgium, Holland, Italy and Luxembourg. With an artistic career that exceeds thirty years, Javier Marín has exhibited individually on more than ninety occasions and has participated in more than two hundred group exhibitions in Mexico, the United States and Canada. as well as in several countries in Central and South America, Asia and Europe.Javier Marín’s work revolves around the integral human being: he shows living, pulsating beings, with bodies that are vulnerable and decomposed, but at the same time dignified and proud, not fragile but strengthened. As of June 24, 2024, the exhibition can be visited at the Fábrica de San Pedro Cultural Center (Miguel Treviño 100, Colonia Centro, Uruapan, Michoacán) from Thursday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Free admission. Parallel to the exhibition, various exhibitions, workshops and meetings are being held, as well as school activities for all ages. For more information, visit www.fabricadesanpedro.com
