The Mexico City Command, Control, Computer, Communications and Citizen Contact Center (C5) reported a fire at the La Merced market on Tuesday’s La Merced market, “in the central part of the main ship.”
The National Civil Protection Coordination reported that 400 people had been evacuated, and that the fire was in the vegetable and clothing area of the market.
The area burned was between 400 and 500 square meters, with no one to be confirmed until midnight that people were injured.
At 22:50 hours, Mexico City Firefighters reported that the fire was “confined” and there was no longer a risk of it spreading to other areas.
Then at 00:00 hours he reported that there was an 80% advance in the extinguishment of the fire.
To address the emergency, pipes of the mayors Venustiano Carranza, Coyoacán, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztapalapa and Alvaro Obregón were mobilized, and a power outage was made in the area.
At least six fire units, 4 ambulances and 18 pipes attended the emergency, as well as the National Guard and Navy.

“Every party happens these things, ” claimed a la Merced noator in an interview with TV Forum. Another local was also complained that there have been other fires, such as the one in 2013, and the necessary prevention and safety measures for this market have not been implemented.
