translated from Spanish: Elisa Loncon and fall in confidence towards the Convention: “Non-existent realities are invented (…) Many lies”

The president of the board of directors of the Constitutional Convention, Elisa Loncon, addressed the decline in citizen confidence in the constituent body, according to different opinion studies. In this regard, he said that “non-existent realities are invented” and “unfortunately there are people who keep that information.”
“A lot of that approval or disapproval has also been encouraged by sectors that are not in some way validating the work of the Convention and you know it,” Loncon said at a press point held at the former National Congress.
“Non-existent realities are invented and it’s a matter of watching Twitter. Unfortunately there are people who keep that information, which in the background is closed, many lies too and continue to reproduce that. You know how much lies have been used to invalidate the work of the Constitutional Convention,” the academic added.
Likewise, the president of the constituent body said that the expanded table “is improving the communication system (…) so that it allows us to reach all corners and work directly to counter the lies that are told about the Convention.”
“We have good journalists here as constituents and an editorial line of transparency. The same thing from the press points, which asked me why I wasn’t there every day and it’s because the conventional ones are doing the summaries,” he added.
Among the communication measures that are being installed, according to Loncon, is the sharing of spokespersons, weighing the achievements of the Convention and establishing “communicative points with the different public services throughout Chile.”
