In view of this situation, the directors of the Children’s Hospital of Mexico and the Gea González Hospital met privately with the legislators who presented their complaints and requested their intervention to have a meeting with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).
The meeting and the petitions were confirmed by the Chairman of the Budget Committee, Alfonso Ramírez.
In his morning conference this Friday the president said that medical institutes in Mexico have sufficient budget to care for patients.
“If there is a shortage of drugs or equipment in the institutes immediately it is resolved, because there is a budget, but also it is absolutely clear, for the health of the people, for the education of the people, there is no limit on budget,” he said.
The President stated that it would be a contradiction that “a government that comes from a popular movement” does not allocate health resources.
“The commitment is that we will have in the six-way a public health system like that of Canada (…) It’s commitment, medical care, free drugs, health centers, enough hospitals, good equipment, good labs, enough doctors and specialists, “he concluded.
