The Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) suspended activities this morning in its Faculty of Mathematics in the face of an alleged threat of shooting made on WhatsApp by a student on the campus.
The student, identified as Yael “N”, would have made the threat to a group of students at the faculty. In the alleged conversation, the student claims that with a shotgun from his uncle, a short gun accompanied by others, he would make a shootout at the school on Monday.
In the same cover, Yael “N” says that to plan the attack they were inspired by the “Joker” (the newly released DC Comics film in Mexican cinemas).

The screenshots of this conversation were disseminated on social media so the Yucatan University issued a statement announcing that school activities on the faculty would be suspended until 3 p.m. on Monday.
“In view of the information that circulated on the night of this Sunday, October 6, related to a shooting at the Faculty of Mathematics, we inform you that you are already working with the authorities to ensure the safety of all members of the Exact Sciences and Engineering,” the institution said.
Faced with this, the alleged perpetrator of the threats indicated on his social media that it was a distasteful joke, which he never imagined to take those dimensions and apologized for the facts.
So far, the UADY has not expressed whether there will be any sanctions or warnings towards the young man.
