translated from Spanish: AMLO acknowledges that violence and insecurity are pending by 2020

From the main square of the archaeological site of Palenque, Chiapas, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent a message to Mexicans on the occasion of the New Year.
The representative expressed his wishes that 2020 would be a prosperous year and noted that 2019 was not a bad year.
“We have to say that (in 2019) we are moving forward. It initiated the transformation of our country’s public life (…) I can assure that corruption is ended, especially above all above, there is no impunity and the economy remained stable,” he said.
The president also noted that there was no inflation, the strengthening of the peso and the increase in the minimum wage as had not happened in the last 40 years.
López Obrador said that in 2019 a better distribution of money was achieved thanks to the development and growth of the economy, a situation that he said was reflected in the millions of Mexicans who benefited from economic support.
On the other hand, he accepted that by 2020 there are outstanding subjects such as the issue of insecurity and violence.
“But I am very confident that we will be appeasing and calming our country because corruption is no longer allowed and the causes that led to insecurity and violence are being addressed,” he said.
Finally, he said his government is making an effort to “moralize Mexico’s public life and we are doing so, we are purifying public life so that moral authority and political authority are held.”
“I send a heartfelt loving hug to all Mexicans (…) we all have to come together (…) I wish you congratulations for 2020 wholeheartedly,” he concluded.

They wanted to take us to the right to hope and they couldn’t. Now, dreams of justice and freedom are beginning to come true. Let’s move on! Happy new year! pic.twitter.com/A6A6qLqrYx
