Mexico.- For today, the cold front No. 45 will extend over Baja California and Sonora, interact with a cold core vortex located in the southwest of the United States and with the jet stream, giving rise to the Thirteenth Winter Storm of the season. A drop in temperature, heavy wind gusts and rains is forecast over the northwest and north of the Mexican Republic, and there is potential for the fall of snow or sleet in the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir, B.C., conditions that will gradually extend during the early hours of Wednesday towards the mountainous areas of Sonora and Chihuahua.
A low pressure channel will extend over the interior of the country, together with the inflow of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, will cause rains with intervals of showers accompanied by electric shocks and possible hailstorms over the western and central states of the national territory. A second low pressure channel will extend over the southeast of the country, causing showers with thunderstorms in that region. Finally a dry line will be established over the north of Coahuila, causing wind gusts exceeding 50 km/h with possible whirlwinds, showers and heavy occasional rains accompanied by hail in Chihuahua, Coahuila and Nuevo León.Precipitation forecast for today March 17, 2020: Intervals of showers with heavy rains (25 to 50 liters per square meter): Coahuila.
