The Metro driver and the line regulator who caused the train crash at Tacubaya station, which left one dead and 41 people injured, were arrested on Friday by elements of the Capital Attorney General’s Office.
The unit detailed that both officers were apprehended “for their likely responsibility for the crimes of murder, injury and property damage.”
This after expert opinions determined that the accident was the result of omissions of operation by the driver and regulator in the relevant safety procedures.

According to the experts, the event could be avoided if the driver of train 33 and the regulator had acted in accordance with the STC’s operational technical manuals. 
These manuals state that, in cases such as that, the driver must apply the braking of the convoy, by means of the emergency ramp parking manoeuvre, which did not happen.
While the line regulator, instead of instructing the driver to perform those measures, he ordered him to move forward.
The driver is 29 years old and responds to the name Alan Omar “N”, while the regulator was identified as María Maricela “N” and is 52 years old.
In a statement, FGJ CDMX referred that Alan Omar “N” was arrested in Tlalnepantla de Baz, State of Mexico and María Maricela “N” on the mayoralty Venustiano Carranza.

After her apprehension, she was transferred to the St. Martha Acatitla Women’s Center for Social Reintegration, and he to the North Manly Preventive Reclusory, where they were made available to a control judge who will determine her legal status.
The apprehension orders against the driver and the regulator were requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office after both did not show up to appear after being notified on several occasions. 
The accident between the two trains was recorded on the night of March 11 after the 33 train moved forward in reverse of the Observatory station towards Tacubaya hitting the metro that was at this station.
As a result one person died and 41 were injured.
