Guatemala.- Guatemala reported 33 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) on Tuesday and reached a total of 763 contagions, including 19 deaths since the first case was detected on 13 March. Guatemalan health minister Hugo Monroy updated the number of cases at a national network in which he warned that there were no deaths in the last 24 hours but no recovered people.
Monroy explained that there are four intensive care patients and that between Monday night and Tuesday, 451 tests were performed to detect the 33 new cases. Guatemala has processed about 7,000 tests since health authorities disclosed the first case of coronavirus in the country, on 13 March, contracted by a man aged approximately 30 who returned to the country from Europa.De agreement to official data, 58 percent of the 763 cases are located in the central region of the country , specifically in the departments of Guatemala, Chimaltenango and Sacatepéquez.The rest of the cases are expanded by the Guatemalan territory, especially in the east, bordering Mexico (15%), and to the west, in departments bordering Honduras (14%).

The country is in a “reopening stage” as ordered by Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei last Sunday. The mandated provision keeps the curfew in effect from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., but includes “the development of the protocol for the opening of public transport in phases” and plans that they can open shops, construction and manufacturing.
