A 12-year-old girl was raped and became pregnant, so she tried to access the Legal Interruption of Pregnancy (ILE). However, not only did they not provide you with information about your rights, but a doctor changed the management time to prevent you from being able to perform the process. It all started when the little girl attended the Primary Care Unit (UPA) with her mother in the humble neighborhood of La Banda, Santiago del Estero, after suffering severe abdominal pains, as assigned Page 12.La was sent to a similar establishment in the Misky Mayu ward, where the 20-week pregnancy was confirmed. Although they immediately took the studies back to UPA, the doctor decided to inform health authorities about the case just 18 days later, where she lies and says the girl was supposedly 26 weeks gestation.
Thus, when the Ministry of Health received the report they presumed that it already had an advanced pregnancy, of 30 weeks; however, when the girl was referred to the Integral Center of La Banda, one of the most advanced hospitals in the province, she was found to be actually in a 24-week pregnancy. After that episode, a tocogynecologist was summoned, who assured that he was in time to offer the practice. However, there are contradictions between national authorities ensuring the ensuring the process, and other provincials, who say that such permission does not exist. Nora Schulman, executive director of the NGO Argentine Committee for monitoring and enforcement of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CASACIDN), warned that there are “protocols for practices” such as the ILE, “but what has changed is the heads of doctors”, in dialogue with TN.
