translated from Spanish: After leaving her post, Guarequena Gutierrez says the plan is “to look for a job”

The former ambassador to Chile appointed by Venezuelan President Juan Guaidó, Guarequena Gutiérrez, recounted that her plan is “to look for a job in which she has a contract”. This, after the former diplomat left office on 31 May last on economic and immigration grounds.
The lawyer spoke with La Tercera, where she detailed that during the 16 months she was in office, she worked without pay and without office, since the official residence of the Embassy of Venezuela is administered by the government of Nicolás Maduro. “We have no civil servants, no employment contract. I was being pragmatic,” he said.
“For public opinion this decision is new, but the truth is that in January I had communicated that if we arrived in the middle of the year and were still in the same situation, I would have to resign because my immigration process was coming in July,” he said.
Gutierrez detailed that now the plan “is to look for a job in which he has a contract, a notarized contract as befits foreigners here in Chile. And start doing my visa paperwork.”
He also recounted that “I’m always going to see myself doing service work (…) I am now in a country where the situation is different, but I will always look for a job that will allow me to continue to attend to Venezuela’s politics.”
Finally, he said that “it’s stressful to do all the work between three people. We were practically two volunteers and I. We had other collaborations, but full-time was that. It was unsustainable because everyone has to see how they produce their resources, a salary.”
