Pharmaceutical entrepreneur Hugo Sigman was charged as part of a complaint about the state contract with the mAbxience laboratory for the delayed provision of vaccines from the firm AstraZeneca.Se deals with doses that have not yet arrived in the country and in the same court filing are involved, in addition to Sigman, President Alberto Fernández, former Minister of Health Ginés González García and the current holder of that portfolio, Carlazzo Vitti.
The complaint, which was filed last Thursday and accuses the pharmaceutical entrepreneur of having collected $60 million from the state to bring to the country AstraZeneca vaccines that have not yet arrived, was made by federal judge Julian Ercolini and is instructed by prosecutor Guillermo Marijuan.

The file was initiated with the complaint filed with the Federal Justice by Josefina de Elizalde, representing a space identified as “Joint Republican Action”, on charges of “embezzlement of public funds and non-compliance with the duties of public officials”.

Sigman’s complaint is joined by an order for operations in the Ministry of Health and in the mAbxience laboratory, owned by the employer, to obtain documentation on the purchase, the NA agency reported. The entrepreneur has been sending the active substance produced at his factory in Garín since January, but a problem in the packaging of doses in Mexico delayed the arrival in the country. Now, this is done in the United States, from where the export of vaccines is prohibited.

Faced with accusations that it stops sending the active substance to Mexico and it is packaged in the country, Sigman explained that its laboratory “does not own the active substance, it only manufactures it, so that it cannot dispose of it as if it belonged to it”.
