The pre-candidate for deputy of the Left Unity Front for the City of Buenos Aires, Myriam Bregman, participated in the cycle of interviews Filo.elecciones de Julio Leiva, to candidates of the AMBA. In a dialogue with Filo.News, Bregman spoke of the advance of right-wing forces that in these elections will seek the place of third force, of the youth and their demands, feminism and much more. Asked about the first plan she would seek to present if she assumes her bench, she replied: “It is a draft comprehensive plan against gender violence and with everything that was experienced, the pandemic seems to me to be more urgent than ever, so I think that would be one of the first that I would try.”
As she explained, this project has already tried to present it both she and her bench mate Nicolás del Caño, but they were able to advance it in the legisative treatment. Referring to the high rate of femicides in Argentina, the leftist leader said: “This is urgent because women die all the time, others are left with permanent injuries.” Young people were a permanent theme in this campaign for the PASO and Bregman said that the space for which he competes proposes “the reduction of the working day.” The reduction of the working day to six hours to generate genuine work and to distribute the hours of work so that we all work. And it is a global phenomenon encouraged by economic, media and political power,” he said. Asked about the sympathy that groups of young people feel for right-wing forces, the pre-candidate explained that “the rebellion is not right-wing, their ideas are very retrograde” and defined it as “the Plan of the 3 M: Martínez, Menem, Macri”. And when talking about the youth, he said: “How can there not be kids with anger? If the only thing they know they’re going to have is a worse laburo than their parents and twice as much worse than their grandparents had? That’s what they offer you in this system.” Bregman was the victim in recent days of an anti-Semitic attack by right-wing lawyer Alejandro Fargosi, who posted a photo of her as a “Jewish militant.”
In this regard, the ‘Russian’, as she is popularly known, replied: “I think it is because she feels contained in this climate of reactionary values, of misogyny, of xenophobia, of anti-Semitism. And he thought he could just say it, that at most I was going to like him very badly and it was going to happen.” The former Buenos Aires legislator highlighted “the reaction, the solidarity” to which she defined as “enormous”. Asked about marijuana, Bregman spoke “absolutely in favor” of its decriminalization for recreational use. At the end of the interview and when referring to the environmental agenda, the leftist leader called for “breaking with the International Monetary Fund”
