Anaya’s hearing for bribery network begins; defense asks for more time

On Monday morning, the hearing of the former presidential candidate, Ricardo Anaya Cortés, began for allegedly participating in a bribery network to approve the tax reform; however, his defense reported that he needs more time to review documents provided by the Attorney General’s Office.
The defense said that last Friday the FGR sent him a new package of documents of more than a thousand pages and he needs to review it.
The judge decreed a recess and it is being analyzed what proceeds.

The hearing is conducted through the videoconferencing system.

On August 26, Anaya’s hearing was postponed because he did not have access to the investigation folder to learn about the charges against him, for which he was summoned by the Attorney General’s Office. The FGR asked the judge to link Ricardo Anaya to trial for the crimes of bribery, criminal association and money laundering.

This morning, the former presidential candidate of the National Action Party (PAN), Ricardo Anaya Cortés, denounced the reopening of the investigation folder on the accusation made against him in 2017, in which he was accused of being involved in a money laundering network, after the sale of a property in Querétaro.
In a video posted on social networks, Anaya said that on September 1 of this year, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) issued an order to reopen the investigation against him that began four years ago, from which he was exonerated at the end of 2018.
