Carmen Frei joins Boric and will propose to the DC to support him in the second round to make “transformations gradually and in peace”

The Christian Democracy has not yet defined whether or not it will support Gabriel Boric, candidate of Apruebo Dignidad, in the face of the presidential runoff. Unlike other parties in the sector, which have already given their unrestricted support to Boric, the party of Yasna Provoste and company left the decision in the hands of the extraordinary National Board that will be held in the coming days.
However, the signs of an agreement are, and were given by Carmen Frei, president of the Christian Democracy (DC), who will recommend the party to support the candidacy of deputy Gabriel Boric in the December elections to reach La Moneda.
“The National Board will be convened for the next few days. In it I will propose that the support for Gabriel Boric be approved in the second round to carry out profound transformations gradually, in peace and in democracy,” he said.
“I received the call from Gabriel Boric, we met at my house for the purpose of talking about the presidential election. I made it clear to him that we are not seeking positions or positions in a future government. It was a clear and frank conversation about the needs and future of Chilean women,” Frei said in a statement.
He also said that “being consistent with the history of Christian Democracy, we are convinced that a government of the authoritarian right would imply a setback for the country.”
“We are convinced that Chile needs to dialogue on public security, personal freedoms, protection of natural resources, social rights and governance, proposals that were very well developed in the program of our candidate Yasna Provoste,” he said.
“The Christian Democratic Party has an institutionality whose maximum deliberative and sovereign instance is the National Board. In it, more than 500 militants from all over Chile, decide the political line of the party. As I announced, the National Board will be convened for the next few days. In it I will propose that the support for Gabriel Boric be approved in the second round to carry out profound transformations gradually, in peace and in democracy,” he concluded.
