Mexico reaches 5 million 366,405 cases of COVID

Mexico reached 5,366,405 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, after registering another 21,565 infections in the last 24 hours, according to the daily technical report of the federal Ministry of Health.
The agency also reported this afternoon that the number of people killed by COVID-19 reached 314,598, after adding another 470 deaths.
After almost two years of pandemic, Mexico City is the entity in the country with the most accumulated cases and deaths. The capital totals 1 million 317 thousand 780 infections and 54 thousand 606 deaths.

Other entities with high numbers of cases are the State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato and Jalisco.
On February 28, Mexico will celebrate two years since the first case of COVID-19 was registered in the country.

Currently, Mexico is going through its fourth wave of infections, although federal health authorities say that this is already down.
The authorities also insist that the symptoms generated by the Ómicron variant are less serious than those caused by previous variants, something they attribute in part to the progress in vaccination.
This Friday, the federal Ministry of Health must announce the epidemic risk traffic light that will be in force in the country for two weeks starting this Monday, February 21.
The current traffic light places 15 entities in orange, 13 in yellow, four in green and none in red.
The only four entities in green are Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Campeche and Chiapas.
