The Morena caucus agrees that the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, appear in the Senate, said Ricardo Monreal, president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo),
In an interview, he said that this decision will be socialized with the other parliamentary groups so that the prosecutor appears before the Political Coordination Board and the Justice Commission.
“The idea is that he does appear, it is a decision that we have begun to take, first in the parliamentary group of Morena … Morena’s legislative majority agrees,” he said.
Monreal indicated that the appearance would be after the session in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, where the case of Laura Moran and her daughter Alejandra Cuevas (the latter imprisoned in the Santa Martha prison), accused of the murder of Federico Gertz Manero, will be resolved.

The also coordinator of the senators of Morena said that he has spoken with the prosecutor, who is willing, kind and very careful in his expressions. “He has his explanations that he will give in the commission and Jucopo.”
On Friday, an alleged call was announced between the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz, and a specialized control prosecutor revealed that the head of the FGR agreed to the project of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) that would seek to release Alejandra Guadalupe Cuevas Morán, accused of the murder of Federico Gertz Manero, brother of the public servant.
In the call, Gertz Manero tells Juan Ramos López, a prosecutor specializing in Competition Control, that Minister Alberto Pérez Dayán’s project practically frees Cuevas.
Asked about it, the FGR did not deny the content of the call and said it will investigate the leak.

When asked if Gertz Manero should be kept in office, Monreal indicated that for him to leave office there are only two alternatives, that the president requests the removal or that the prosecutor voluntarily retires.
“The Senate can only object or not to his removal. If we have the constitutional power to make him appear, to invite him to appear, to carry out this type of exercise of control of the Legislative over other powers, we will do it once the resolution is concluded so as not to interfere or generate undue condition on the process that is being carried out, “he said.
