New tourist information point inaugurated in the International Terminal of Arturo Merino Benítez Airport

Through an alliance between the National Tourism Service (Sernatur) and the concessionaire of the Arturo Merino Benítez airport, Nuevo Pudahuel, a new welcome point for tourists and international delegations was inaugurated today located in the International Terminal (T2) in the baggage claim section of international arrivals in the middle of the six islands with luggage belts, where more than 1,200 pieces of luggage per hour will be processed.
This structure aimed at the final public and service providers, is located in an area of high influx of public and exhibition, which will have self-consultation touch screens that will deliver tourist information about Chile.
In structural terms, the Welcome Point has a large pillar identified with the word “WELCOME” in a height of seven meters in different languages such as English, German, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, among others. In addition, it was incorporated into languages of chilean native peoples such as Mapudungún, Rapanui, Quechua, among others.
It also adds a corporeal with the Chile brand that comes to seal all the advertising tourism communication that Chile carries out abroad. It is also expected that tourists – as they arrive – will stop in front of the corporeal, take a photograph and can share it through social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, among others.
Currently, the second stage called “Welcome Desk” is under construction, which will add 11 interactive screens at another point of the terminal.
For the national director of Sernatur, Andrea Wolleter, the “Welcome Point” represents a new window of exhibition of Chile for tourists. “When the interactive screens are in operation, the tourist will find tourist information from all over the country, panoramas, promotional campaigns, videos, interactive QR’s, among others. This is undoubtedly a contribution to receptive tourism which is in the reactivation stage. This new arrival point is part of a comprehensive project, which will add another Welcome Desk that is currently under construction, adding to a joint work between Sernatur and Nuevo Pudahuel”.
For his part, the deputy manager of communications of Nueva Pudahuel, Manuel Valencia, valued the installation of the space. “This welcome point solves many of the requirements that tourists who arrive in the country point out. Mainly, those referring to tourist destinations or how to transport yourself to Santiago and how is the Metro or bus network of the city. Through the technology that this space will have, those concerns can be resolved quickly, giving a quality welcome to the country.”
Nuevo Pudahuel also delivered the first balance of the operation of the new International Terminal (T2), which began operating last Monday, February 28. In its first week, the building mobilized more than 100,000 passengers on 672 flights, without any loss of service and meeting international standards of punctuality.
“We were able to efficiently carry out the transition plan, with a gradual change of airlines and then, in white march, we have fulfilled the objectives we set ourselves. This result is the result of a committed work between Nuevo Pudahuel and the entire airport community, which was prepared with time and professionalism for this start-up that is built day by day together with the passengers, “he concluded.
