Looking ahead to the end of the month, Mexico added another 2,758 cases of COVID-19 and 84 deaths due to this disease on Tuesday, the federal Ministry of Health reported.
The agency headed by Jorge Alcocer also indicated that the number of accumulated cases reached 5 million 654 thousand 311, while that of deceased people reached 322 thousand 845.
On February 28, Mexico marked two years since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the country.
Since then, Mexico has gone through four waves of infections. The authorities maintain that the current wave is in the downward stage, which is reflected in different indicators.
On Tuesday morning, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) reported that there are seven states with zero hospitalizations. These are Yucatan, Tabasco, Hidalgo, Queretaro, Tlaxcala, Guerrero and Nayarit.
The federal Ministry of Health also reported that the number of estimated active cases amounts to 8,792. Active cases are considered the engine of the pandemic because they represent people who had symptoms in the last 14 days and who still have the capacity to infect.
Next Friday, the agency must announce the new epidemic risk traffic light for the entire country, which currently has the 32 entities in the green color.
