The mastermind of the murder of two Canadian tourists is arrested

The Secretariat of Citizen Security reported that it arrested Oscar Iván “N”, alleged intellectual author of the murder of two Canadian tourists that occurred in January 2022, at the Xcaret water park, located in the municipality of Solidaridad, Quintana Roo.
Authorities reported that the arrest was carried out in Mexico City after several months of intelligence work and joint work between the Attorney General’s Office of Quintana Roo and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
“They were located in Mexico City from Chiapas, so field personnel of the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination implemented an operation in the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office, one of the people was identified as Oscar Iván “N”, who has an arrest warrant for homicide and attempted homicide,” reads the statement released by the agency.

On January 21, there was a shooting inside the Xcaret hotel, which resulted in two deaths and one more person injured, all of Canadian origin.
State Security Secretary Lucio Hernandez Gutierrez said the shots were fired “from an argument between hotel guests.”
He also released images of the guest who allegedly shot at foreign tourists.

Days later it was revealed that Cong Dihn, one of the men who was shot dead inside a hotel in Xcaret, was wanted by Canadian authorities for alleged money laundering.
According to a bulletin issued by the Canadian Police, in coordination with the Be On the Lookout (BOLO) program, the authorities of that country offered 50 thousand dollars as a reward for information about his whereabouts.
