Femicide in Cañuelas: A man killed his partner and escaped by bicycle

A 45-year-old woman was beaten to death in a house in the La Verónica neighborhood, in the city of Cañuelas. The incident occurred last Sunday, May 1, and all suspicions point to the femicide being perpetrated by her partner who is currently at large. The victim was identified as Graciela Castillo, a mother of five children between 2 and 12 years old who was found dead in her home on San Juan and Tristán Suárez streets in the aforementioned neighborhood. Unofficial sources believe she was killed when her children were not at home but the body was found by one of her 6-year-old daughters.

The first data indicate that the woman had an important hole in the cheekbone and that she was killed with something forceful, possibly an iron. The element used by the femicide was not found at the scene. After the attack his partner, identified as Marcelo Sergio Romero, would have left the house by bicycle and so far was not found. At the moment they are taking the necessary expertise to have more information about how the events occurred.

In the case intervened the Functional Unit No. 1 of Cañuelas, dependent on the courts of La Plata, whose authorities decided to summon the experts of the Special Cases Division of the Scientific Police of the Province of Buenos Aires.De according to the first versions, the victim had gone on Saturday night to dance alone and that unleashed the fury of Romero. When he returned, the man waited for his children to go play in a square in front of the house, and then attacked her with blows to death and escaped.
