“Lanús taught me to be me”: the emotional farewell of Diego Valeri

Diego Valeri said goodbye to Lanús and his fans with an emotional letter he published on social networks, in which he did not confirm his retirement and did remember the step by step of his career in the “Garnet”. In this sense, he revealed a meaningful text in which he wrote: “I had never been able to run around with the boots put on the court one until I was sixteen, but the day came. ‘ You have to act like you’re Lucho Gonzalez. Do you love it?’ I said yes. I wasn’t going to lose anything. It seemed easy, but it was hard as the blow that Carlos Galván gave me as soon as the game started. I rolled against the signs and stood in pain, with a strange sense of joy.”

You made us excited with your talent for playing ball, with your simplicity and, above all, with your sense of belonging. Our paths are separated but forever you will be in the history of Club Lanús, Diego ❤️ #GraciasPelusa 8️⃣♾️ pic.twitter.com/CK2oQVezEF — Club Lanús (@clublanus)

He also thanked: “Lanús taught me to be me. Not more than anyone else, no less. To get up when I fell and to play with my forehead up, ball under the sole. With nobility. Carry Lanús on his chest, a pride. Wherever I have to play. Lanús, always Lanús,” adding: “Thank you for letting me make my story within you. Your heart is mine. The heart of the neighborhood that saw me born and lent me its streets as paddocks, the gates of its factories as arches and its infinite baby clubs to know football in its essence. The one I tried to carry with passion until the last day. There is always one last day, which gets dark.” Finally, he referred to the triumph against Metropolitanos de Venezuela, where he said goodbye to the “Fortress”: “I am jumping for joy in front of you. Singing. Won. What more can I ask for? It seems like a dream. It’s night. Never mind. I’m happy,” he concluded.
