“News of a kidnapping”: first trailer of the series based on the book by Gabriel García Márquez

The first trailer of “Noticia de un secuestro” premiered, the Colombian series based on the renowned book of the same name by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, which will tell through six episodes, the historical drama of the country: during the kidnappings by drug traffickers that occurred in the ’90s.

Starring Majida Issa, Cristina Umaña, Carmenza Gómez and Julieth Restrepo playing the victims Diana Turbay, Maruja Pachón, Marina Montoya, Beatriz Villamizar, respectively; the cast is also made up of Juan Pablo Raba (as Alberto Villamizar) and Constanza Duque (as Nydia Quintero).

The series is directed by Andrés Wood (“Violeta Se Fue A Los Cielos”, “Machuca”) who is also an executive producer; the rest of the executive production team is composed of María Elena Wood, Matías Cardone, Macarena Cardone and Patricio Pereira (“Invercine & Wood”), Lourdes Díaz, Stuart Ford and Cristina Garza (AGC Studios), and García Márquez’s own son, renowned screenwriter and director Rodrigo García (“The Affair”, “Six Feet Under”). It premieres on the Amazon Prime Video platform on August 12.

News of a kidnapping was first published in 1996, when the distinguished journalist investigated the organized captures by a group of drug traffickers known as Los Extraditables.
