Reserved Expenses Case: dismissal of former general director of Carabineros Gustavo González Jure rejected

The Seventh Chamber of the Court of Appeals of Santiago rejected the dismissal of the former general director of the Carabineros, Gustavo González Jure, formalized in the case called “Reserved Expenses”, for embezzlement of public funds.
According to the investigation of the North Central Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, González Jure subtracted $1,181 million between 2011 and 2015, precisely, from the item of reserved expenses. According to the records of the Public Ministry consigned by Radio Biobío, of that amount, $123 million went into their pockets.

González Jure’s lawyer, Pedro Orthusteguy, said they will evaluate whether or not to appeal to the Supreme Court, which they will announce in the coming days.
“The request that we make is for a partial definitive dismissal with respect to a part of the first group of facts, in which we maintain that there is a prescription (…) that does not ultimately affect the calculation of penalties (…)”, said the jurist.
It is worth mentioning that a couple of weeks ago the definitive dismissal of the former Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Javiera Blanco, also formalized in the case for the same crime, was confirmed.
