The coach of the Argentine rugby team, the Australian Michael Cheika, spoke today after the historic triumph over the All Blacks by 25 to 18, in the third round of the Rugby Championship tournament. I’m proud of this team. Day after day we are improving in the level of the game and that is reflected in the results, logically this triumph makes me very happy,” said the 55-year-old Australian at the press conference after the remarkable triumph of Los Pumas.And added: “I am very happy. We do a lot of training, we collect a lot of information and this match represented a great challenge for all the technical staff. I am proud of this that was achieved.”
“The important thing is that the players believed in themselves, they trusted in the game plan and everything said in the previous one was fulfilled against an opponent that is very difficult,” the coach emphasized. As for tactics, Cheika praised the defensive system although he considered that it should continue to be improved with a view to the next commitments. “The scrum is important. Today we didn’t have that well in the first half and then we improved it, but we must continue to improve for the next game. Here the important thing is when the team plays for everyone,” the coach analyzed.
