Billy Idol: “Thank you Argentina for making my life so great”

It has been a hectic week in terms of international shows and in Argentina we are completely happy. But who is completely happy with Argentina is Billy Idol, who after opening Green Day in Velez last Sunday and before filling his own Luna Park last night, gave a press conference in which he was very comfortable. With the aim of anticipating his EP “The Cage” – available from September 23 through Dark Horse Records / BMG – the artist spoke to specialized media in a room of the Four Seasons Hotel.
“The audience is fantastic. In Argentina they have the most beautiful women, I don’t forget that,” he replied in his first question, recalling the show he gave more than 30 years ago in our country at the River Plate Stadium. The Cage” will be Idol’s second EP for the recently relaunched Dark Horse Records, a label initially created in 1974 by George Harrison and now run by Dhani Harrison and David Zonshine. Other artists currently in Dark Horse include George Harrison himself, Joe Strummer and Ravi Shankar. In this new project he is accompanied by his longtime collaborator, co-composer and guitarist Steve Stevens.

Of the 4 tracks that make up the EP, he anticipated that “Running from the Ghost” is about being scared about his own drug addiction and “Rebel Like You” is a song for his granddaughter of a year and a half.” When I started my career I didn’t know how long this was going to last. It could last a year or two. That’s what we did in punk rock: do it for love. And because it started for that reason I can be here and people are appreciating what I’ve done. Thank you Argentina for making my life so great,” he said, visibly pleased to have been cheered on Sunday in front of different generations and also have a Luna Park sold out.
