The Professional League, the League Cup and the Argentine Cup are drawn: everything you need to know

The 2023 season of Argentine football will be defined this Thursday with the draw for the fixtures of the Professional League, the League Cup and the Argentine Cup.The draws of the Professional League and the League Cup will take place from 13.00 at the AFA premises, in Ezeiza. The new calendar for 2023 will have three relegations at the end of the year, two of which will be by averages and the remaining by the annual table, to begin to meet the goal of reaching 2028 with 22 teams in the First Division. Unlike the current season, the order of the tournaments will be reversed. That is, first the Professional League will be played and then the League Cup, to avoid coinciding with the definitions of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
Dates and formats
The Professional League will be played from January 27 to August 5, like the last season, in which Boca was crowned champion: the 28 teams will face all against all in a round of 27 dates. Meanwhile, the Champions Trophy is scheduled for December 23. For its part, the League Cup – which Xeneize also won – will take place from August 20 to December 16, the day on which the final will be played. There will be two zones of 14 teams each and the first four of each group will qualify for the quarterfinals, which will be defined as a single match as well as the semifinals and the final. In this way, there will be two classics in the year, one per tournament, and the locations will be reversed so that each club can receive its rival in its stadium. Argentina Cup
