Corrientes: Customs seized more than 800,000 pesos in merchandise

The procedure was developed at the border crossing between Paso de los Libres, in Corrientes and the Brazilian city of Uruguayana where different control tasks were implemented in the International Bridge sector, proceeding to the inspection of vehicles trying to enter Argentina. From the control carried out, in a first case it was possible to detect that a vehicle with Brazilian license plates had 9,800 ornamental feathers hidden inside, distributed in 98 packages of 100 units each, with a value in the local market of 440 thousand pesos. Later, in another vehicle driven by an Argentine citizen, customs agents discovered under the seats and carpets of the car a total of 60 hidden bottles of alcohol, “Jack Daniels” whiskey and “Ciroc” vodka, valued at about 360 thousand pesos. In both cases, Customs proceeded with the application of the offense established in Article 977 of the Customs Code, which is equivalent to one to three times the customs value of the goods in violation, as well as the seizure of all the goods. These actions by Customs help combat unfair competition and protect both domestic industry and Argentine labor.
