AMBA public transport will increase by 39% from January

The bus tickets of the Metropolitan Area (AMBA) and those of short and long distance trains will rise by 39% in January and from March they will increase every month according to inflation, as officially announced by the Ministry of Transport.
The minimum ticket for short sections of up to 3 kilometers in AMBA buses will have a rise of 39%, thus going from $ 25.20 to $ 35 pesos. In trips between 3 and 6 kilometers the ticket will go from $ 28 to $ 39, from 6 to 12 from $ 29.40 to $ 42, from 12 to 27 from $ 30.80 to $ 45 and in those of more than 27 kilometers the ticket will increase from $ 32.20 to $ 48 pesos.
In the routes between the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) with the limits of the AMBA, such as Cañuelas, Pilar, La Plata, Luján and Zárate, among other locations, they will increase to $ 46.06, with a base for each kilometer traveled of $ 1.76. For express services, surcharges of up to 25% are contemplated, which can reach up to 75% in case of groups that have a route on highways.
Resolution 952/2022, published in the Official Gazette, which establishes the new increases in public transport, bases the adjustment on the increases in the cost of inputs, fuel, automotive insurance, vehicle prices and spare parts.
The rule states that these higher costs “have not had a recognition in the rates” that from the first of January increase to “maintain the economic-financial equation that allows their sustainability.”
In rail transport, on the Mitre, Sarmiento, San Martín and Tren de la Costa lines, increases of 27.5% will be applied, thus going from the minimum ticket of $ 17.25 to $ 22 pesos and the maximum, of more than 24 kilometers will cost $ 35 pesos, with an increase of 34.62%. On the Roca, Belgrano Norte, Belgrano Sur and Urquiza lines, the minimum ticket fare will be unified at $17, representing increases of between 51% and 79% and the highest was set at $27, which is equivalent to an increase of between 45.95% and 61.19%.
The new fares for trains and buses will have the 55% discount established by the social fare regime.
The resolution explains that the increases between March and December will be adjusted according to the evolution of inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index of INDEC, of the “previous month with respect to each monthly period to be updated,” as specified in the standard.
The Ministry indicated that it will submit the new tariff tables to an instance of citizen participation, where opinions and proposals can be expressed. The form, where you can write up to 5000 characters and attach documents, will be open between next Monday 26 and Wednesday 28 through the www.argentina.gob.ar/transporte site.
