Photo Antofagasta returns with various activities in 2023

In the course of this year, the platform that seeks to bring the photographic language to the community, “Foto Antofagasta”, promoted by Balmaceda Arte Joven, with the support of the Seremi of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, through the National Fund for Cultural Development and the Arts, Fondart Regional, Call 2023, region of Antofagasta.
The project seeks to make visible the work of local artists through the dissemination of works, considering four exhibitions, in addition to the realization of associated training activities, such as mediations, workshops, talks and seminars, in face-to-face and online format.
During 2014 the first version of Foto Antofagasta was made, with the aim of correcting the lack of specific training centers for the development of local photography.
In this 2023 version, the objective will continue to be a showcase for artists, as well as a space for training and discussion for the Antofagasta community, providing tools that allow reflection on contingent issues through the image.
“Foto Antofagasta is a platform that has been developed for several years, where we promote the regional photographic work through exhibition and training initiatives, thanks to the support of regional Fondart, this year we will offer the community, a rich and diverse program that we will focus on heritage, “said Jorge Wittwer, director of BAJ Antofagasta.
Regarding the idea developed by BAJ, the Seremi (S) of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of the Antofagasta region, Cristian Retamales, said that “for the Seremi of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, this project “Photo Antofagasta 2023” is relevant, because it allows us to promote the work of local artists. For this, exhibitions will be held that include workshops and instances open to all audiences. In this way we are enhancing the work of local photographers and bringing this discipline to the people of Antofagasta.
