Michoacan went from 5th to 8th place in homicides: Torres Piña

Morelia, Michoacán.- Michoacán moves away from the states with the most intentional homicides per month, falling from fifth to eighth place nationwide, so far in June, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, they reported in a statement.
The Secretary of Government, Carlos Torres Piña, said that in the statistical count that is carried out month after month, Michoacán is in eighth place with 69 cases so far this month, 13 less compared to May of this year and 49 fewer homicides compared to June 2022.
Torres Piña stressed that this means a total decrease of 41 percent compared to last year’s figures, therefore, he recognized the coordination strategy between municipalities, State and federation maintained by the Secretary of Security, José Alfredo Ortega Reyes.
“The joint strategy of security, crime prevention and law enforcement has yielded strong results, in addition to a constant downward trend in the incidence of homicides,” he emphasized.
He said that there is still much to be done to guarantee the universal right to security of Michoacanos, however, he said that these figures are encouraging, since they show that the strategy works so he reiterated that the Government of Michoacán will continue with this constant action that allows the population to feel safe.
