What is the project against age discrimination that was presented in Deputies

Yesterday, the Bill “Against All Forms of Age Discrimination” was presented in the Chamber of Deputies by the ruling party deputy Anahí Costa. The aim is to guarantee a life free of discrimination on grounds of age and ageing in the Argentine Republic.According to the text of the draft, the aim is to promote equal opportunities between
citizens for a full exercise of rights throughout their life cycle, eradicate prejudices and stigmatizing stereotypes; prevent, redress, punish and eliminate all forms of age discrimination. The Anti-Ageism Law is based on the following principles: gender equality, personal autonomy, equal opportunities, active ageing and interculturality. In other articles, it prevents contracts from setting conditions that disadvantage people because of their age; It establishes the need to develop positive action measures to reverse the inequality suffered by some social groups for reasons of age and promotes the so-called “blind curriculums” (without age and personal photos) with the aim of avoiding age discrimination in employment. In addition, it promotes access to work for persons discriminated against on the basis of their age through promotion schemes and quotas; prevents the dissemination of discriminatory representations in the audiovisual media; promotes education throughout the life cycle, and incorporates older people into Comprehensive Sexuality Education.” Population aging is one of the main problems in the world. In Argentina, the INDEC determined that the universe is 15 percent (43 percent of men and 57 of women). And we must see this as a possibility for public policy,” he added. The deputy remarked: “All this generates a challenge, which we must address with a gender and human rights perspective, as well as an interculturality; Because it is important to make visible and protect our elderly: for example, it is important that they have access to good health services, appropriate to their age.”
