Leon Gieco called for peace in Israel and the release of his nephew

From the war that began in recent days between the Hamas group and Israel in which many Argentine citizens were in the middle, León Gieco called for peace in the Middle East and the release of his nephew, Ron Scherman, kidnapped by the terrorist organization. As a musician always committed to peace and today overwhelmed by the extreme situation in the Middle East, by the blindness and harshness of politicians and by these acts of terror where the victims are always the peoples, both Palestinians and Israelis, I ask for a peaceful solution to this millenary and cruel conflict, “exclaimed the musician in a video published on his social networks. In that line, Gieco added: “I ask for the return of all the hostages to their places. In my particular case, I pray for the return of my nephew Ron Scherman, for the love that unites us as a family, and for the universal love that must never die.” Although uncertainty initially took over the situation, the Israeli army officially confirmed that the young man was abducted. Recently, the government of Argentina managed to repatriate 49 citizens and Santiago Cafiero – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship – said that the work of the following days will be focused on “removing 180 minors from Israel.” So far, 1490 Argentines have requested to be repatriated, and the first 200 will arrive this Sunday morning at Ezeiza International Airport.
