Workers of the Judicial Branch protest against the extinction of trusts

Morelia, Michoacán. – Workers of the Judicial Branch of the Federation in Morelia, demonstrated outside their offices, as well as in the aqueduct of the Michoacan capital, this before the approval by the Chamber of Deputies of the extinction of 13 of 14 trusts, for an amount of more than fifteen billion pesos.
Estefanía Bueno Gallegos, Secretary of the Seventh District Court, stated that:
“We are protesting against the impact on our labor rights, derived from the budget cuts made by the federal legislative branch”
The trusts they seek to remove are intended to guarantee the operability of all jurisdictional bodies at the federal level, as well as the benefits they have had for quite some time.
Among the effects that would arise from the disappearance of these trusts, it would affect the academic and technical preparation of the workers, as well as the opening of new jurisdictional bodies.
The Judicial Branch of the Federation is an institution that is exclusively responsible for the defence of human rights and the protection of the rights enshrined in the Constitution as its main purpose.

The Secretary, Bueno Gallegos, believes that all of this is a political issue:
“It is an issue with hidden nuances, of weakening judicial independence, it is an issue of attack on the principle of separation of powers, the way to weaken a power within a constitutional framework is to withdraw the budget with which it functions properly”
The Federal Judiciary is a counterweight to the government that can curb many issues that are not completely legal, that are outside the legal framework and that affect human rights.
“It is a power that puts a brake on the arbitrariness of the legislative and executive branches, it is important that all citizens know what is done in the institution,” added the Secretary.
Javier Morales Guzmán, Secretary of the Seventh District Court, concluded by commenting that:
“There will be a union delegation that will attend to express the demonstrations of all, representing the workers of the Federal Judiciary, there will be an attempt to generate an action that allows us to preserve those rights and issues already acquired.”
