Morelia, Michoacán.- After Michoacán legislators approved increases to the Electoral Institute of Michoacán (IEM), the Ministry of Education in the State, Michoacan University, State Commission on Human Rights, Mobility, Public Security, Legislative Branch and others, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla ruled out a deficit for the 2024 budget.
In an interview with the media, he assured that this adjustment will not affect the planned public works or social welfare programs that his government delivers.
He added that it is a budget that will allow the fulfillment of the commitments contemplated therein, in addition to the fact that it does not foresee a deficit or debt.
From the Expenditure Law, the amount of 70 million additional to the IEM stands out so that the electoral body exercises a total of 770 million pesos, for 2024, election year.
Ramírez Bedolla said that he will review the economic adjustments made by the legislature for next year’s budget, because in addition to increasing the resource for the IEM, greater resources were approved for them.
“It is a decision of the deputies, we have to see where they took the budget from, I also understand that the deputies themselves increased their budget, so well, it is finally a determination of them I am reviewing the budget that was approved,” he said.
However, the state executive pointed out that the approval by an absolute majority gives certainty to the budget and called for its exercise in a “transparent, honest, republican way, without excesses.”
The Ministry of Education of Michoacán, with 29,498,373,000 pesos and the UMSNH will receive 3,706,917,000 pesos as set out in the 2024 budget approved by the deputies last night, in the order of 95,471,978,325 pesos.
